FASCIA is the fabric of creation…
The Fascia is a slightly mobile connective tissue, which is derived embryo logically from mesoderm. Fascia surrounds and infuses every organ, muscle, bone, nerve and blood vessel all the way down to the cellular level. Fascia has the propensity through trauma, inflammatory processes and poor posture to become solidified and shortened. Fascia will organize along lines of tension imposed upon it and due to its continuity can then produce bizarre and seemingly unrelated clinical results in adjacent areas of the body. This loss of fascial mobility produces a drag on the fascial system, which manifests as abnormal alterations in the CranioSacral physiological motion.
(Excerpts taken from John Upledger’s Craniosacral Therapy book)
Fascial restriction can pull our spine out of alignment, affect our posture and gait cause very intense pain, produce severe inflammation, impedes the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid and interstitial fluidsblocks the flow of your chi.
Myofascial release work can help eliminate all of the above symptoms and it is used to soften and dissipate adhesions/scar tissue that may result from surgery.
When our traditional methods of treating pain do not work, it is almost always a fascial restriction, and usually underlying that is the emotional component, thus leading one to Somato Emotional Release work.
